Welcome to Curating Play…we are so glad you stopped by! This special place is a labor of love, a passion project, a dream come true…can you tell we are excited? When two brains read, think about, gather, collect, store, accumulate stack, amass, save, pick up, compile (you get the idea!) information on play in any shape or form, physical or digital…some sort of organization finally has to happen. For us, it is Curating Play.
To curate: to organize, pull together, sift through, take charge of, to prepare for presentation…all verbs from Dictionary.com on my phone that help to make our point. What good is it for materials to just sit somewhere in a stack, to be hidden in a filing cabinet or to be languishing in a desktop folder? Good things are not meant to be tucked away for that special time that might never come. Good things need to be out front, center stage, there for everyone to see, appreciate and, most importantly, USE!
Curating Play is that place…where what is known, already researched, forthcoming in an innovative setting, or just recently discovered can work together to give voice to the important work of supporting children’s play. When we first conceived this idea, it was really just a dream…then more ideas began to come…until finally, here we are with a blog, a website, a Facebook page…and more!
But, the most important piece of the Curating Play picture is…YOU.
We want Curating Play to reflect the work in the field and the ideas that our stakeholders have. We may not always agree on everything, but this special place is a safe space and one where the idea is more important than the person. We hope to hear from you on Facebook in the free group, on our website with comments and responses and especially in our membership.
We welcome you to our group, to our materials and to our hearts as we learn about one another, grow and share ideas and practices and, in general, enjoy time in a location that is like minded and strong in its belief in and support of play.
